Product of the Month: K-tape

kinesio tapeK tape is a super tape that closely mimics (almost identical to) the properties of your skin – its stretch, recoil and thickness are designed with this in mind. In can be used as treatment for a variety of musculoskeletal and sports injuries and also inflammatory conditions.

The tape is dynamic and moves with you – this means the tape can be used to improve function and mechanics without being restrictive like other tapes.

K tape comes from 30 years of research and is now a standard in elastic therapeutic taping and offers a gentle and effective approach in providing the support you need. You may have noticed more and more professional athletes wearing K tape to support them during play. K tape was in fact is the only tape worn in the 2008 Beijing Games.

If you have had K tape applied to you during treatment you would have experienced the support and stability it gives to your injury/issue. Personally I have used it to support my back and more importantly my posture after a back injury and I definitely noticed the difference it made in my recovery. We’ve also had clients find that K tape was helpful to reduce the pain of arthritic knees and increase the flexibility of tight or sore muscles.

Our physiotherapist Deb is a CKTP (Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner). Kinesio tape is available from the clinic for $25.00
